Found in Cauca and Tolima departments of Colombia, Ecuador, Chanchamayo department of Peru and Bolivia in wet montane forests at elevations of 2200 to 2800 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial or occasional epiphyte as a pubescent plant that has 2 to 5, basal, pubescent, narrowly lanceolate, acute to acuminate, 1.6 to 2" [4 to 5 cm] long, petiolate base leaves that blooms in nature in the fall and winter on an erect, peduncle [27.5 cm] long, provided 1 to 3, with a lanceolate bract in the middle rachis 3" [7.5 cm] long, pubescent, many flowered inflorescence that exceeds the length of the leaves, and broadly lanceolate, acute, glandular, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts carrying non resupinate, pubescent flowers with glabrous sepals.
