Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or occasional epiphyte in wet montane forests at elevations of 2200 to 2800 meters as a pubescent plant that has 2 to 3, basal, plicate, petiolate leaves that are conduplicate towards the base with no psedobulbs that blooms on an erect, 3" [7.5 cm] long, pubescent, many flowered inflorescence that exceeds the length of the leaves, with a lanceolate bract in the middle and broadly lanceolate, acute floral bracts with non resupinate, pubescent flowers occuring in nature in the fall and winter
