Common Name Jameson's Ponthieva [English Orchid collector of the type 1800's]

Found in Loja province of Ecuador without locational data with 4, oblong-elliptic, acute, pubescent, narrowing below into the .8" [2 cm] long, petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, peduncle 11.6" [29 cm] long, rachis 2.4" [6 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with sparsely glandular, just shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying small flowers.

"This species resembles Ponthieva rostrata , known from Colombia, Ecuador and Peru , from which P jamesonii is easily distinguished by its obliquely ovate, rounded, undulate petals (vs petals obliquely ovate-triangular to triangular-dolabriform, acute) which are glabrous on the margins (vs distinctly ciliolate) and by the rather short, obovate apical lobule of the lip (vs lobule elongate, linear)."
