Found in Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador in forests at elevations of 1300 to 2500 meters as a cool growing terrestrial orchid with basal, lustrous above, matte below, dorsally carinate, elliptic, acute, sessile or shortly petiolate leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, glabrous below and verrucose above, 8 to 15 flowered, racemose, 5" [12.5 cm] long inflorescence with 6, tight tubular bracts and a tubular floral bract.
