Common Name Tamayo's Potosia [Mexican Orchid Enthusiast current]

Found in Jalisco and Oaxaca states of Mexico in forests without elevational data as a medium sized terrestrial with a basal rosette of a few, petiolate base leaves that are not present at blooming and blooms in the later spring on an erect, delicate, glandular above the base scape provided with 5 to 9 tuular, acute to acuminate, lower and middle ones longer than the interndes, glabrous, upper ones glandular outside sheaths, rachis 2 to 2.8" [5to 7 cm] long, rather densely 8 to 12 flowered inflorescnece with ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, thin, delicate herbaceous with hyaline, semi-transparent margins, longer than the ovary floral bract and carrying medium sized, tubular flowers with reflexed lateral sepals.

"The hypochile and epichile of P. tamayoana are separated by a sharp constriction. The epichile is elliptic or rounded, and the hypochile ca. 2 to 2.5 times longer than the basal auricles" Szlachetko 2004
