Found in Tasmania in subalpine herbfields, sedgelands and grassy areas at elevations of 650 to 1200 meters as a miniature to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a stout, short stem carrying a single, stem clasping leaf that blooms in the late spring through later summer on an erect, 5.2 to 16" [13 to 40 cm] long, 5 to 14 flowered inflorescence and carrying non-resupinate, unscented flowers
