Common Name Tadgell's Leek Orchid - The Small Alpine Leek Orchid
Flower Size 1/4" [ 1.2 cm]
Found in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania Australia in alpine & sub-alpine grasslands and herb fields at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters, as a samll to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial that blooms in the summer in Australia on an erect, 12" [30 cm] long, 5 to 30 flowered inflorescence with successively opening, lightly scented flowers.
CAUTION Many references cite this species as a synonym of P alpinum, I feel that there are sufficent differences to keep them separate.
