Common Name Glaziou's Prescotia [French Gardener, director of Rio Public Gardens later 1800's]

Found in Minas Gerais and Rio de Janiero states of Brazil in high grasslands at elevations of 1,700 and 2,400 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 1 to 2, radical, erect, elliptic to oblong, deep green, finely nerved venation, acute, attenuate below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a terminal, erect, peduncle to 8.8 to 11.2" [22 to 28 cm] long, provided with 2 to 3 adpressed, amplexicaul, pale green sheathing bracts, rachis 2.4 to 3.6" [6 to 9 cm] long, slightly sinuous, cylindrical, laxly few flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute to acuminate, glabrous, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate, small, erect-patula, greenish flowers.
