Found in Rio de Janiero, Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo Brazil as a small to medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with naked roots giving rise to a short stem with a basal rosette of membraneous, reticulated, lanceolate-elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below and attenuate into the pseudo-petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, to 15" [to 37.5 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with 5 tubular, acute bracts and as long as the flower floral bracts
