Found in Rio de Janiero, Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo states of Brazil at elevations around 2200 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a short stem enveloped by 1 to 2 leafless, basal sheaths carrying above, a single apical, oblong, acute, narrowing below in to the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer and earlier fall on a terminal, erect, carrying 3, tubular, acute bracts, 12" [30 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence
