Common Name Smith's Prescottia [original collector of the type early 1900's]
Flower Size
Found in Magdalena department of Colombia at elevations around 1300 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with 3, basal, obliquely elliptyic to oblong, acuminate, canaliculate into the 1.6 to 3" [4 to 7.5 cm] long, petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, glabrous, peduncle 12" [30 cm] long, rachis to 4 to 6" [10 to 15 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate acuminate floral bracts.
"Very similar to Prescottia stachyodes but differs in the smaller flowers, wider petals, fleshier lip and a differnt form to the auricles, a longer gynostemium and a much wider rostellum. This species has been proposed to be a synonym of P stachyodes over the years but, for the reasons cited above it deserves species status." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2019
