Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil at elevations around 280 meters as a small to large sized, hot growing rupicolus or epiphytic orchid on Vellozia with fusiform, 5 noded, smooth becoming rugose, enveloped by dessicated sheaths and carrying, apical, 3 to 7, alternate, rigid, coriaceous, variable in size, amplexicaul, lanceolate, slightly folded lengthwise, glabrous, margins membraneous and minutely serrate leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, paniculate, 24 to 40" [60 to 100 cm] long, slightly flattened in crossection, greenish, successively many, many flowered inflorescence with red, triangular floral bracts.
