Deep shade Hot Fall

Common Name Tudy's Psychilus [Spouse of the Author and cocollector of the species]

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in the Dominican Republic as a natural hybrid between P truncata and P bifida as miniature sized, hot growing epiphyte with narrowly oblong pseudobulbs enveloped by 2 to 3 basal sheaths and carrying 2, apical, thickly coriaceous, rigid, narrowly linear-ligulate, emarginate leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, 32 to 48" [80 to 120 cm] long, bifurcate apically, successively single, to 14 flowered inflorescence.

"A perfect example of intermediate characteristics between 2 species, vehetatively and florally. The tubular lip distinguishes it from P bifida and the size of the flower and the shape of the crest distinguishes it from P truncata." Dod 1978
