Found in Puerto Rico on Mona Island in bright light on small trees and shrubs in dry coastal forests at elevations near sea level as a small sized [out of bloom], hot growing epiphyte with cylindrical to pyriform pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 3, rigid, coriaceous, linear leaves that blooms mostly in the spring and summer on a terminal, erect, stiff, 4'2" to [1.2 meters] long, successively many flowered inflorescence enveloped partially by tightly clasping, tubular, scarious sheaths and has clustered flowers and an inflorescence that can reproduce another head of flowers over several years
