Common Name Baptist's Pterostylis [Australian Botanist 1800's] - In Australia The King Greenhood

Flower Size to 3" [5 to 7 cm]

This is a cold growing, small to medium sized, terrestrial species from New South Wales and Victoria Australia where it is found at elevations of 10 to 700 meters in very wet rainforests on stream banks, lake sides and semi-bogs in leaf litter with 5 to 8, ovate to oblong, obtuse, wavy or crisped margins, shortly petiolate leaves in a basal rosette that usually blooms on a single flowered, basal, 8 to 20" [20 to 25 cm] long, erect inflorescence occuring in the fall or spring depending if they get water early in the season or late.
