Found in New Caledonia in dense forests and scrubby gullies in rocky humus soils at elevations of 100 to 1000 meters as a miniature to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with a round tuber giving rise to an eret stem with numerous, distant elliptical to obovate leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on an erect, single flowered inflorescence
