This species is found in New South Wales, Victoria Tasmania South Australia and New Zealand in open forests in moist soils around swamps and watercourses in peaty sand or clay loam soils at elevations of 10 to 600 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with scattered or in a loose rosette, a few dark green, crinkled leaves that blooms in the late winter and spring on an erect, 20" [50 cm] tall, single flowered, leafy inflorescence.
