Common Name The Large Flowered Pterostylis - In Australia The Cobra Greenhood Orchid - The Superb Greenhood

Flower Size 1.4" [3.5 cm]

Found in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania Australia at elevations of sea-level to 250 meters in coastal scrub, heathy forests and woodlands as a small sized, cool to warm growing terrestrial with a rosette of dark green, crowded, ovate to oblong, shortly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall and early winter on an erect, 6 to 16" [15 to 40 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence. This species and most others within the genus are pollinated by male insects of the fungus gnat and mosquito family.
