Common Name Hirtz's Pterichis [German Engineer and Orchid enthusiast current]

Found in Ecuador in cloud forests and shrubby paramo at elevations of 2500 to 2900 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial without leaf data that blooms in the fall on an erect, glandular in the upper part, peduncle 7.6" [19 cm] long, provided with 6 tubular sheaths, rachis 2.4" [6 cm] long, densely ciliate, 12 flowered inflorescence with very sparsely ciliate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying greenish red flowers.

"This species resembles Pterichis habenarioides in having sparsely ciliate ?oral bracts, glabrous sepals and sparsely ciliate petals, but it is easily distinguished from the latter by having a lunate basal part of the lip (vs. reniform), and obliquely oblong-elliptic petals (vs. lanceolate)" Kolanowska 2021
