Common Name Madsen's Pterichis [Danish Botanist and collector of the type current]

Found in Loja province of Ecuador in scrub and ridge-top vegetation above the tree line ate elevations of 3000 to 3150 meters as a large sized, cold growing terrestrial with narrowly elliptic, acute, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, glandular-ciliate above the basal part, peduncle 24.4" [61 cm] long, provided with 8 tubular sheaths, to 28" [70 cm] long, overall, rachis 3.6" [9 cm] long, densely cilaite, to 10 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, externally glandular-ciliate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying flower without color data.
"Species similar to Pterichis acuminata but with sparsely ciliate sepals (vs. sepals densely ciliate), prominent lip middle lobe constituting half of the total lip length (vs. up to 1/3 of the total lip length) and lip being as long as wide (vs. wider than long)." Kolanowska 2021
