Found in New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia at elevations up to 200 meters occuring in open forest, heathy woodland in a variety of soils from sandy to red clay-loam, as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a globose tuber giving rise to an erect stem carrying a rosette of several, ovate,acute, petiolate base leaves and 2 small, acute, ovate, basally clasping sheaths, one well below the middle and the other just below the flower that blooms in the late fall and winter on an erect, 8" [20 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.
