Found in Rwanda, Zaire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Brazil in scrubby grasslands or over rocks at elevations of 1650 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with a chain of fleshy, lobed underground pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 3, linear-lanceolate, long-petiolate, plicate, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the winter on a terminal, 10" to 30" [25 to 75 cm] long, densely many flowered, racemose inflorescence.
