Found in southeastern and southern Brazil as well as Paraguay as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial orchid with an erect stem enveloped basally by a whorl of spathulate, acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, conduplicate, petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, 14" [25 cm] long, laxly several to many flowered inflorescence enveloped below by spaced, lanceolate, acute bracts and with pubescent, linear, acute, longer than the ovary, pubescent floral bracts
