Found in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania Australia in heathy and grassy forests and heathlands at elevations of 5 to 1200 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid occuring in sparser forests, growing in clay-loam soils often in somewhat rocky or bare ridge areas with a basal rosette of 6 to 12 leaves that blooms in the spring through late summer on an erect, 4 to 12" [10 to 30 cm] long, 1 to 10 flowered inflorescence.
