Found in Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid at elevations of sea level to 400 meters occuring in woodland in shady areas and the soil is usually sandy with a non flowering basal rosette of 3 to 10 leaves and a blooming stem carrying several, narrowly linear, twisted, basally clasping, acute conduplicate leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, 12" [30 cm] long, 1 to 10 flowered inflorescence
