Common Name The Sharp Pterostylis - In Australia The Large Pointed Greenhood

Flower Size 1 3/8" [3.5 cm]

Found in New South Wales and Southern Victoria Australia in open forests in moist soils around swamps/watercourses in peaty sand or clay loam soils at elevations of 10 to 500 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid with an erect, 20" [50 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence occuring in the late winter and spring. This greenhood is a cross between the Nodding Greenhood (Pterostylis nutans) and Sickle Greenhood (Pterostylis falcata), with its shape and size close to the Nodding greenhood.
