Found only in Sarawak Borneo on trees overhanging rivers and beaches at elevations of 0 to 50 meters as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with short, basally freely branching stems carrying distichous, linear, acute, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an axillary, unbranched, [6 to 20 cm] long, successively 4 to 5 at once, to 13 flowered inflorescence

Similar to but differs from R histronica by the different colored, resupinate flowers that have a shorter spur.
