Common Name Ellinor Dunsterville's Pleurothallopsis [American Orchid Collector in Venezuella]
Flower Size .12" [3 mm]
Found in Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador in cloud forests at elevations of 1400 to 2000 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing, densly caespitose epiphytic species with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 4, imbricating, ribbed tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptical, purple tinged, subacute leaf with the base cuneate into the subpetiolate base that blooms in the spring on a successively flowered inflorescence with solitary flowers produced in a fascile with more than one inflorescence arising out of the ramicaul and the nodding flowers are held at mid leaf. The very small solitary flowers are borne in a fascile of erect peduncles up to .4" [1 cm] long,
