Common Name The Tokio Rhomboda - In China Bai Lei Ling Lan

Found in Guangdong province of China, Japan, the Ryukyus, Taiwan and Vietnam in humid broad-leaved shady forests on silicate soils at elevations around 400 to 1300 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a red brown, ascending stem carrying 2 to 5, oblique-ovate, acute, velvety dark green to greenish-brown, with white median stripe, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a terminal, erect, .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] long, finely sparsely pubescent, with 1-2 cuneate, pinkish hyaline bracts, rachis to 3.2" [8 cm] long, finely pubescent, many flowered inflorescence with brownish red, ovate-lanceolate, margin ciliate, acuminate, lower ones longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying non resupinate, hardly opening flowers.
