Found in India and Sri Lanka in submontane or tropical wet evergreen forests at elevations up to 1850 meters as a large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with an elongate, nonpseudobulbous stem carrying many, alternate, linear, apically unequally bilobed, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the late winter and spring on an axillary, slender, 6" [15 cm] long, few to several flowered inflorescence with triangular-ovate, acute to rounded floral bracts
