Found in Colombia in premontane border forests as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 1300 to 1900 meters with ovoid, laterally compressed pseudobulbs enveloped completely by several imbricating leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying a single, apical, lanceolate, acute, coriaceous leaf that blooms in the spring and fall on a axillary, pendant, 3 to 6" [7.5 to 15 cm] long, loosely 3 to 8 flowered inflorescence arising on a newly matured pseudobulb through the leaf axil.
