Common Name Alexandr's Sarcoglottis
Flower Size .4" [1 cm]
Found in Sao Paulo and Parana states of Brazil at elevations below 900 meters as a medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with 2 to 3, basal, ovate-elliptic, acuminate, subrounded and briefly narrowing below into the elongate, 1.4 to 2.6" [3.5 to 6 cm] long, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, peduncle 12" [30 cm ] long, provided with 4 to 6, acutely, embracing glabrous towards the base, pubescent towards the apex sheathing bracts, rachis 4" [10 cm] long, 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence
Schlechter stated that this species is likely related to Sarcoglottis biflora and Sarcoglottis uliginosa but differs from both in its long stalked leaves and the much more delicate flowers.
