Common Name Ibanez's Sarcoglottis

Flower Size

Found in Alta Verapaz department of Guatemala in oak forests insandy soils at unknown elevations as a small sized terrrestrial with a basal rosette, present at blooming, maculate, elliptical, petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, to 12" [30 cm] long, rachis thin, pubescent, 4 to 20 flowered inflorescence with green, glabrous floral bracts.

"Similar to Sarcoglottis sceptrodes but distinguished by the rosulate leaves present at blooming, the lateral sepals markedly falcate and acute, the oblong-ligulate lip with a rhombic-oblanceolate epichile that is twice as wide in the upper half than the linear hypochile." MBG 2023
