Found in French Guiana, Peru and Para state of Brazil in primary rainforests at low elevations as a giant sized, hot growing terrestrial with 3 to 5, in a basal rosette, absent at blooming, elliptic to lanceolate, acute to acuminate, adaxially grey green marbled with clear green, sublinear, canaliculate, pseudopetiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, terminal, peduncle 38.2" [95.5 cm] long, pubescent above, provided with 6, glabrous, green violet, as long as to longer than the internodes, lanceolate, acuminate sheathing bracts, rachis 13.2" [33 cm] long, to 20 flowered inflorescence with 11, clasping, lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous, pubescent at the base, green violet, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying pale green flowers with a white lip.
"Similar to and often put as a synonym of !Sarcoglottis acaulis but S villosa differs in the elliptic to narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, acute to acuminate leaves versus elliptic to oval to oval-lanceoalte, acute leaves, A possibly longger, purplish green peduncle and sheathing bracts versus a brownish peduncle and dull sheathing green bracts, a disitnctly narrower dorsal and lateral sepals versus wider, acuminate to subacuminate apex of the sepals versus acute to subacute, the lip with densely pubescent nectaries at the base and below , versus barely pubescxent, a bipartite callus versus unipartite, abd a cultriform clinandrum with a toothed upper margin versus oblong with an entiore upper margin."
