Found in Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe in miombo woodland at elevations of 1100 to 1750 meters as a large to giant sized, cool growing terrestrial with foliage leaves on a separate shoot, flowering stem with sheathing leaves all along the stem and blooms in the spring on a long and narrow, up to 12" [30 cm] long, many-flowered, racemose inflorescence carrying non-resupinate flowers.
