Common NameThe Large Leafed Satyrium
Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]
Found in Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Cape Province and Natal South Africa in local colonies on moist grassy slopes and flats at eleations of 350 to 1800 meters as a robust, small to giant sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 2 to 3, semi-erect leaves that abruptly transitions to the leaf sheaths above that blooms in the summer through fall on an erect, terminal, 2.8 to 16" [7 to 40 cm] long, 20 to 90 flowered inflorescence and carrying faintly fragrant flowers.
