Common Name The Nepalese Satyrium - In China Niao Zu Lan

Flower Size 3/8 to .6" [.8 to 1.6 cm]

Found in China, western Himalayas, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Eastern Himalayas, Nepal and Bhutan in open grasslands at elevations of 2100 to 3700 meters as a miniature to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 1 ro 2, ovoid-cylindric tubers giving rise to a sout, bracteate above stem carrying 2 to 3, oblong to ovate-lanceolate, sub-basal, fleshy, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, 6.8" to 17.6" [17 to 44 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with oblong-lanceolate, leaf-like floral bracts that exceed the ovary in length and carrying fragrant flowers
