Found only in western Cape Province of South Africa in fynbos and shrublands at elevations of 500 to 1400 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a slender to robust stem carrying 2, basal, adpressed to the ground, ovate-ellitpic, fleshy leaves that grade above into the conical, largely sheathing cauline leaves above that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a terminal, erect, lax to dense many flowered inflorescence carrying hard to describe scented flowers
