Found in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania in swampy grasslands or bogs at elevations of 2700 to 3000 meters as a small to large sized, cold growing terrestrial with small, ovoid, to ellipsoid tubers giving rise to an erect, leafy stem carrying 7 to 11, mostly bunched towards the base of the stem, the largest lanceolate to broadly ovate, acute leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a terminal, erect, to 9.6" [24 cm] long, densely 10 to many flowered inflorescence.
