Common Name The Andean Sauroglossum

Flower Size

Found in Ecuador and Catamarca and Salta provinces of northwestern Argentina in very wet montane forests at elevations of 2400 to 3000 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with no leaves at flowering occuring in the summer on an erect, often slightly arched, peduncle 12 to 16" [30 to 40 cm] long, provided with 10 membraneous, distant, amplexicaul below, lanceolate acute, apex free sheathing bracts, rachis 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long, to 50+ flowered inflorescence with linear-acute floral bracts.
