Common Name Cloe's Scaphosepalum [Belgian original co-collector of species]
Flower Size 1/2" [1.25 cm]
Found in Ecuador without collection data as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, gradually narrowing below into the slender petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, suberect, distichous, to 2.4" [6 cm] long, successively many flowered, racemose inflorescence with acute, much shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
"Closely allied to Scaphosepalum dalstroemii but is distinguished b ythe smaller habit with smaller flowers, tails of the synsepal much shorter,and a lip with a narrowly oblong hypochile and epichile. Both species share petals withan undulate margin and a long, thick, densely pubescent column foot." Luer 1998
