Common Name The Confused Scaphyglottis [refers to it's similatrity to S behrii]

Found in Chiapas state of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua in pine-oak-liquambar forests and lower montane forests at elevations around 700 to 2300 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with superposed, cylindrical, sulcate pseudpbulbs carrying 2, erect-patent, linear, obtuse, unequally bilobed apically, glabrous leaves that blooms in the spring on a fasciculate, successively single, few flowered inflorescence.
" A Scaphyglottis with proliferous plants (adventitious pseudobulbs arising from the inflorescence) and minute, littleattractive flowers. It is very similar to the common S fasciculata, erroneously known as S livida ; but in the latter the pseudobulbs are thicker, the ovary is longer and a half or two thirds of the distal part are exserted from the bracts, the petals are more oblong, and the lip is more constricted towards the apex. In s. confusa the stems are usually glossy; there are large imbricate bracts completely covering the ovary; the lip is ecallose, only with an inconspicuous axial keel, and the distal margins are minutely irregular-erose. Garay (1973) suggested that the correct name of this plant is Scaphyglottis minuta (A. Rich. & Caleotti) Garay. After an examination of Richard's drawing of Polystachya minuta A.Rich. & Caleotti in P. However, we have examined that drawing and a specimen (Galleotti, Pi.) and it has the diagnostic traits of S fasciculata
