Common Name The Big Fingered Scaphosepalum [refers to the thickened tail of the middle sepal]

Found in Colombia without locational of elevational data as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte meters with erect, slender, ramicauls and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical, acute, gradually narrowing below intothe slendre petiolate base leaf that blooms on a slnder, smooth, loose, non-flexuous, 3.2" [8 cm] long, successively several to many flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a slender floral bract and to 2 flowers open at an one time.

"Closely allied to Scaphosepalum breve but it has verrucose peduncles and sepaline tails at leasat as long as the blades. Also similar to the Central American Scaphosepalum anchoriferum but it has much larger sepaline cushions that usually extend beyond the blades and acute, shortly acuminate petals." Luer 1988
