Found in Costa Rica at elevations around 1000 to 1500 meters as a small sized, erect to pendant, warm growing epiphyte with basally slender, never superposed, ellipsoid pseudobulbs enveloped basally in youth by several, close, distichous sheaths and carrying 2, apical, ovate-lanceolate, basally conduplicate, coriaceous, acute, but minutely emarginate leaves that blooms in the late summer and fall on 1 to 3, to 1.2" [3 cm] long, terminal, short, successively single, few flowered inflorescence densely covered by by dry bracts .
