Common Name The Broad-Petaled Schelochilus

Flower Size 3/8" [1 cm]

Found in Peru at elevations of 900 to 1800 meters as a small sized, caespitose, cool to warm growing epiphyte from wet montane forests with oblong, compressed, narrowly elliptic pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several, close, imbricate, scarious sheaths and a single, apical, elliptic-oblong or elliptic, acute, coriaceous, dark olive green with maroon or dark green underneath leaf that blooms on a basal, 14" [35 cm] long, panicle with 10 to 13 loose. approximate, scarious bracts all arising on a mature pseudobulb with a few to several, simultaneously opening flowers held below the leaf that occur in the fall.
