Common Name The Pichincha Sigmatostalix [A Volcano In Ecuador]

Found in Pichincha province of Ecuador at elevations of 750 to 1500 meters as a warm to cool growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to ovate, flattened, ancipitous pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several conduplicate sheaths that uppermost foliaceous, and carrying elliptic-oblong, acute, narrowing below into the conduplicate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a lateral, basal, arising through the uppermost foliacecous sheaths, erect, to 8" [20 cm] long, provided with several, remote, close, tubular bracts, successively single, several flowered inflorescence.
