Found in Ecuador as a miniature sized epiphyte with elliptical, smooth to wrinkled, strongly compressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 1 to 2 leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying a single, apical, narrowly elliptical, acute leaf that narrows below into a conduplicate, short, narrow stem that blooms in cultivation in the fall on an axillary, to 6" [15 cm] long, erect for 2" then arching to horizontally spreading successively few flowered inflorescence that arises from the conduplicate leaf axil
