Found in Yunnan China in open alpine grasslands at elevations of 3200 to 4000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid with a stem carrying 2 to 3, tubular, basal sheaths and carrying 2, spreading, narrowly lanceolate, acute to acuminate apically, contracted below into an amplexicaul base sheath that blooms on an erect, 21" [22.5 cm] long, to 7 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, slightly longer than the ovary, denticulate margined floral bracts and carrying fragrant flowers
