Found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guiana, Surinam, Northern Brazil, Ecuador and Peru in rain and cloud forests at elevations of 200 to 1200 meters as a medium sized, hot to warm growing, most often epiphyte and occasional terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped by tubular sheaths and carrying plicate, subcoriaceous, elliptic leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, successively single to 2 flowered inflorescence carrying waxy, fragrant flowers
