Found in Costa Rica and Ecuador at elevations around 1200 meters as a medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with erect cane-like stems with closely adpressed, tubercular, slightly verrucose sheaths carrying 2 to 4, towards the apex, distinctly alternate, coriaceous, sessile, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, abruptly acuminate, the uppermost one reduced in size and bractlike leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, successively single flowered, cone like inflorescence with an abbreviated, closely imbricating bract.
