Common Name Fenzl's Sobralia [Austrian Botanist later 1800's]
Flower Size 2.4" [6 cm]
Found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador in lower evergreen rainforests at elevations around 200 to 1900 meters as a small to large sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial or occasional epiphyte with erect, terete, leafy stems carrying plicate, erect-patent, elliptic, acuminate, cuneiform below into the base leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on a cone like arrangement of bracts giving rise to sessile, successively single, several flowered inflorescence with small whitish to pink to purple colored, fragrant flowers.
Sometimes cited as a synonym of Sobralia decora but I will leave them separate for now pending more information. Appears to me that it is a more concolor flower and does not have a central ridge to the lip apex.
Synonyms Sobralia neglecta Schltr. 1923; Sobralia panamensis Schltr. 1922; Sobralia panamensis var. albiflos Schltr. 1922
